The Passage of Time (2020) - an NFA award winner

(Audio extract at 00:28)

A three-movement song cycle for Flute, Soprano (or Mezzo-soprano) and Piano, The Passage of Time was published in 2020, winning a composition prize from the National Flute Association (US) the following year.

Taking its text from poems in different languages, but bridged by common musical themes, The Passage of Time tells a story of loss, acceptance and ultimately, hope.

Coming soon: To One in Paradise (2026)

Commissioned by New York-based flute player Emily Duncan, To One in Paradise is a new work in four short movements for alto flute and piano, inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe poem of the same name. Jonathan is looking forward to the premiere of this work later in the year.
